As this delegate has seen, there has been a large misunderstanding as to what the purpose of the U.N. peacekeeping force will be in the the south China Sea. The purpose of the peacekeeping troops is not to prevent war, or give any signal that there will be war, but help in the protection of the regional trade routes from pirates and other non-national bodies. If you have any further questions about these peacekeepers, please do not hesitate to comment and add your opinion to this thread.

Agreed. They are, by name, a peacekeeping force, there to keep the peace. In addition, their intervention in order to preserve the safety of trade routes is of high importance. The South East Asia region are all tightly linked by trade, for example, China and the ASEAN countries by the Free Trade Agreement (2010). Peace and safe trade routes requires a UN peacekeeping force in the sea region.
However, that said, the peacekeeping force should remain in the region only, and not interfere with any other issues, or infringe on a country's sovereignty.
